The Lazy Pig Events

March 23, 2014 35th Warwick University Real Ale Festival Posted In: Information

The 35th Warwick University Real Ale festival took place over three days from the 13th – 15th February 2014, the president of the festival approached The Lazy Pig in November 2013 to discuss catering for the festival, of course we jumped at the opportunity! Over the three days we supplied half a tonne of pigs, 500 prime sausages hand made by Barry the Butcher of Stratford upon Avon and also quite a few veggie sausages too, the hog roast was served as it should be with Bramley apple sauce and sage & onion stuffing the perfect accompaniment to the 120 beers, 28 ciders and 10 wines that were on offer, we kept or baker on his toes too, he supplied with 1200 freshly baked bread rolls over the three days!

The annual festival one of the highlights of the student year, the Real Ale Society take great care to ensure that the 120 beers are some of the greatest drinks in the UK, some from the furthest corners of the country and others fromour local towns and villages. To keep everyone company through the night there was entertainment on each of the three nights. On Thursday night, the infamous Dr Busker, a crucial part of any good Real Ale Festival, Friday night was graced by Warwick’s own Big Band and Saturday night brought the ‘Betrunken Wurst Barvarian Band’ of Huddersfield.

After we had finished service on the last night the President came over and confirmed he would like us back again next year! So don’t miss it give the facebook a like so you can keep up to date with next years festival and see all the photos from the last. www.facebook.com/wuras.warwickrealalesoc
